"A Computational Framework to Analyse Phenotypic Heterogeneity in Spatial Single Cell Data“

Adriano Martinelli implemented a new computational framework to analyze tumor heterogeneity. This framework incorporates various metrics from spatial statistics, information theory and methods to interrogate cell-type interactions. He designed a novel method that simulates synthetic tumor images based on a stochastic Markov chain model that he subsequently used for the assessment of previously published methods. The thesis stands out in terms of originality and very high quality.
