Miguel Steiner

The IBM Research Forschungspreis 2024 is awarded to Miguel Steiner for his PhD thesis on navigating catalytic reaction space with automated and steered mechanism-exploration approaches, designed to deliver new insights into complex chemical reaction networks. This he accomplished by introducing new concepts to tame the explosion of the number of relevant molecular structures in a network of elementary reactions. Alongside the development of new exploration methodology with quantum chemical approaches, he discovered new reaction pathways relevant to prototypical catalytic processes.
